TPE Intake Manifold MINI R53 | R52 | Cooper S | JCW

The OEM intake manifold on the R53 is a known restriction within the intake system.
Even with high-performance upgrades like ported cylinder heads or aftermarket camshafts, airflow remains limited by the factory design.

Restricted airflow reduces efficiency and directly limits power output.
Improving flow in this area is key to unlocking the engine’s full performance potential.

The main goal in developing this intake manifold was to maintain equal pressure across all four runners, while preserving the external dimensions of the OEM unit.
To achieve this, the internal geometry was completely redesigned using advanced CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations to optimize airflow distribution and overall performance.

Multiple CFD iterations were performed, and several prototypes were validated through real-world testing and dyno sessions.

  Dyno testing shows improvements across the entire RPM range, with especially strong gains between 2,500 and 5,000 RPM:
  +40 Nm and +15 whp at 3,000 RPM
  +10 Nm and +12 whp at redline
• Enhanced thermal efficiency
  Testing showed lower intake air temperatures and quicker thermal recovery, contributing to more consistent performance under load.

Dyno Testing

These results are based on testing a TPE Precision non-ported intake manifold against the OEM non-ported version, using the following setup:
• 16% supercharger pulley
• OEM crank pulley
• 550cc injectors
• Cat-back exhaust
• TPE Precision charge pipe
• TPE Precision prototype cold air intake
• TRS Performance ECU tune

Note: Results may vary depending on engine configuration.

Installation Notes
• A retune is strongly recommended after installation, as the AFR (air-fuel ratio) may run lean.
• Installation should be carried out by a qualified BMW/MINI technician.
• The R53 Intake Manifold Kit is a true bolt-on upgrade, no modifications required. All necessary hardware is included.

Ported vs Non Ported Version:
Ported version is the intake manifold that the cylinder head outline match the original metal gasket.
Non-ported version has the exact same cylinder head outline as the original Cooper S intake manifold.
